Moon Phase at Birth Calculator

See the Moon's phase and illuminated fraction at a birth instant. The graphic follows the calculated phase; the astronomical result is kept separate from symbolic interpretation.

Astronomical positions are calculated; astrology and numerology interpretations are symbolic, not scientifically validated assessments.

Birth details

Reference cities use centre coordinates. Edit them for your actual birthplace. Historical offsets follow your browser’s time-zone database; check your record when clocks changed.

Calculations stay in your browser. We do not put birth details in URLs, storage or analytics. Results are not sent to a server.

Enter your details and choose Calculate. Examples are illustrative, not saved profiles.

How this calculation works

Phase angle is the geocentric Moon–Sun ecliptic separation. Illuminated fraction is calculated separately from the Sun–Moon–Earth geometry, not inferred from the phase name.

Assumptions and limits

The graphic is a simplified north-up phase diagram, not a photograph or a simulation of local tilt. A phase name groups a range of angles; illumination changes continuously.
