Editorial policy

Our approach to calculator formulas, worked examples, limitations and corrections.

Explain the decision and the method

Tools are built around a specific task. We state the formula and the units, distinguish assumptions from observations and compute worked examples with the actual calculator engine. Content is written to help users understand a result, not to meet a word-count target.

Avoid unsupported precision

A cost tool uses the prices entered by the visitor. It does not imply a current market price or guaranteed saving. Country-specific tax and legal rules require a separate sourced model; translating a label is not enough.

Checks and corrections

Automated checks cover formulas, invalid inputs and conversions. Software checks do not replace specialist review of an individual project or legal situation. We do not present unperformed reviews as completed, and publication dates are not automatically refreshed to suggest a new review.

Funding and independence

The existing site uses advertising. Ads must be distinguishable from controls, and visitors must not be encouraged to click them. Google applies your advertising choices. Where eligible, declining personalization may still allow non-personalized or limited ads. Commercial relationships must not dictate calculator results.
