Tile Calculator
Estimate the number and cost of tiles for a rectangular floor. Add a cutting allowance, then round up to individual whole tiles.
Your result
- Tiles to order
- 245
- Estimated tile cost
- $735.00
- Floor area
- 20 m²

Currency selection changes formatting only. No exchange rates or market prices are supplied.
Formula
Tiles = ceiling(floor area × (1 + waste ÷ 100) ÷ tile area); cost = tiles × price per tile.
Worked example
The initial example uses the following assumptions. Its result is computed by the same engine as the calculator. Measurements are metric and money amounts use USD; these are illustrative inputs, not market prices.
- Room length
- 5 m
- Room width
- 4 m
- Tile length
- 30 cm
- Tile width
- 30 cm
- Waste allowance (%)
- 10
- Price per tile
- 3
- Tiles to order: 245
- Estimated tile cost: $735.00
- Floor area: 20 m²
Assumptions and limitations
The estimate excludes grout joint width, box rounding, adhesive and labour. Check the layout and the supplier's pack quantities before ordering.
Questions about this calculation
Is the result rounded to full boxes?
No. It is a number of individual tiles. Round it to the supplier's box quantity separately.
Are grout gaps included?
No. Exact layout and grout spacing are not modelled; this is a material-planning estimate.
